You now have the golden brown manure tea brewed, but might be a bit unsure where to go at this point. There are many ways you can use manure tea in your gardens and compost.
Let’s discuss how to use your freshly brewed manure tea.
Use Manure Tea In A Misting Bottle
Manure tea is a perfect foliar fertilizer that can add luster to plant leaves. Many plants take moisture in through leaves, so manure tea is a great way to give houseplants a nutrient boost.
But manure tea mists are not left just in the home. Giving your vegetables and flowers an occasional misting of manure tea can be very beneficial.
In the picture below, I’m giving my pole beans a refreshing mist of manure tea.
Use Manure Tea In A Watering Can
Another simple use for manure tea is to use a watering can. Just fill the watering can with concentrated or half and half diluted manure tea and water each plant thoroughly.
Use Manure Tea In A Hose-End Sprayer
Applying manure tea to a large area is best accomplished using a hose-end sprayer. This will allow you to cover a lot of garden area very quickly.
Simply pour undiluted manure tea into the bottle attachment of the sprayer. Attach a water hose to the sprayer and apply to the garden. Most hose-end sprayers will mix the manure tea and water at the appropriate levels.
Here I am applying manure tea to my garden using a hose-end sprayer.
Pour Manure Tea Onto Compost Piles
Manure tea can be poured in compost piles to help accelerate the composting process. Compost needs microbes in order for the decomposition of materials. Manure tea will give your compost a quick shot of these beneficial microbes. It will also add a nitrogen component to the compost which will really get the pile sparked.
Storing Unused Manure Tea
If you have any unused manure tea, you can always store it in a container with a lid. Avoid storing the tea longer than just a couple days, but not much more than that.
Pour the unused manure tea into a container with a lid and place it in a storage shed or whatever you prefer.
As you can see the possibilities for using manure tea with your plants is truly limitless. Manure tea is the most versatile, green garden product you’ll ever find.

You talk about cow, horse and chicken manure, have you ever tried mink? Would it be to strong? Its sat for about 2-3 years, in large stockpile. I’m thinking a 10 to 1 blend would be ok. I’m trying for the first time this season. I guess we will see what happens. Let me know your thoughts.
Hello Terri:
Not knowing what the mink’s diet was I have to refrain from answering here. I have not used mink manure as I do not raise them. Trust your judgement if you feel it’s well aged and the animals diet was right? I would test in small area see how your plants perform. Wishing you the best of luck
Hi. I just bought my first assortment pack for my container garden—alfalfa for my beautiful golden celebration rose, and manure teas for my tomatoes, peppers & herbs. Excited! I’m a gardening nube (if you can’t already tell since it’s so late in the season ;). Do you have general recommendations for how often to use moo tea? Same as you would regular fertilizer (7-10 days for veggies, 1x/month for the rose till August? (zone 6))? Thanks!
Welcome and thank you so much for growing Green with Authentic Haven Brand Natural Brew. I have some growers that brew and feed the manure teas each time they water. I recommend that you brew and feed them no less them four good feeding during the growing season (which ever method is easiest for you, I brew and feed my gardens when I water). I have growers brewing my tea in one to five gallon containers, Hudson Sprayers and some have brew barrels hooked up to their drip systems for easy an easy feeding application. Authentic Haven Brand is so versatile and easy to brew and feed you’ll find a system that works for you I know. You can not over feed your plants as they will only absorb the nutrients they need. However; be cautious not to over water your plants, you want to have a good watering schedule in place. I like to deep water my plants and then keep the soil moist not to dry or wet. If you are growing in containers you want to make sure to water them good daily early morning and give them a good feeding of Authentic Haven Brand to them once a week (Sunday Morning is my container MooPooTea feeding day. Don’t forget to feed your indoor plants too they will love you for it. Again Thank you for your order you can e-mail me any time at annie@ahavenbrand.com I’m here for you and you garden. Annie
Wow, many thanks for the details! Very much looking forward to using it. Cheers from an urban (now Green!) balcony garden. P.S. Lovely packaging, too! Best~A.
From Moo to You, I Thank you, it means the world to me to be bringing Authentic Haven Brand to the world of home gardeners. Enjoy and know I am just an e-mail or message away. Annie
Would it be too much of a good thing to use your Alfalfa Tea with the rose food I mix myself, consisting of alfalfa meal, cottonseed meal, rock phosphate, bone meal, blood meal and epsom salt? I use this once a month on all my perennials, not just roses. It seems to me, using the tea as well would help get the nutrients all the way to the roots faster, especially in early spring. What do you think? Is Manure Tea better for perennials? I’ve been gardening most of my 70 years, and feel as though I’m just scratching the surface of what I should know. I’ve learned so much from reading your site and comments. Thank you!
Hello there is always something to learn each time we set foot in the garden. I would suggest since you are already feeding Alfalfa meal that you feed cow manure tea in between those feeding. I know you will see remarkable results as the nutrients condition the soil, allowing your plants roots to absorb needed nutrients. I have many award winning gardeners and rosarians feeding my alfalfa tea as well as my manure teas. I’m honored to be the soil nutrient of choice for Better Homes and Gardens 2014 Dream Country Gardens Award winner that was featured in their special publication addition of Country Garden Magazine in August. Please feel free to contact me any time with any questions you may have. Thank you Annie Haven
Hey There,
I was wondering, I just combined a manure i bought from Home Depot and water in a large can, it’s mostly water. I sprayed this on my leavy green veggies like kale and spinach. Is there a risk for bacteria like e coli or anything on the leaves if I eat them within a few weeks? Would washing off the leaves help? Just a bit concerned I didn’t do this accurately.
Thanks!
Hello Steve, If you are growing organic it is important for you to know that not all manures are truly organic. Here is a good article for you to read http://www.growingagreenerworld.com/killer-compost-it-happened-to-us/ Authentic Haven Brand Natural Brew premium soil conditioner teas are the by-product of Haven raised livestock.
